Every part of Ray told him this was a very stupid thing to do. He pulled the delivery van into the paved alleyway. He’d never approached the house from this side before. Their garage was in the front. The back was a simple, fenced backyard. He parked the van.
He hopped out, looking both ways before jumping the wooden fence. He approached the back door, but didn’t knock. He pulled out his phone to send a text. Before he could, the back door opened.
“Come on in, Ray.” Laura was in a t-shirt and gray sweatpants. Her hair wasn’t done. He barely got in the door before she kissed him. Ray looked around. “Don’t worry.” Laura said, “Nicolas is at his shop. He won’t be home for a while. We have the place to ourselves.”
“You don’t seem sick,” Ray joked.
“I’m not.”
